Storm King Art Center: This open-air museum in Mountainville offers the biggest collection of contemporary outdoor sculptures in the U.S. Pack a picnic or rent one of their bicycles to tour the grounds.

Bear Mountain: One of the best-known peaks of New York’s Hudson Highlands, you can reach Bear Mountain’s summit by a paved road. You’ll also find many hiking trails, including the oldest section of the Appalachian Trail.

Legoland New York: Legoland is set on 150 acres and features kid-friendly rides and attractions, and amazing displays made completely out of Legos.

Angry Orchard: This orchard in Walden offers visitors tours and tastings. With outdoor seating and an in-house kitchen and food trucks on site, it’s a great place to sample a flight of locally crafted hard ciders.

Newburgh Beacon Bridge Walk: This walk is a must for jaw dropping Hudson views. Walk, bike, or hike the 3.5-mile journey and on a clear day, catch a glimpse of New York City.

Beacon Flea Market: Bargain hunters can score vintage and antique goods in this open-air market. Or, head to Woodbury Commons where designer goods get heavily discounted.

Beacon food scene: Beacon’s reputation as a top culinary spot is well-earned. Hit Max’s on Main, a family-owned local bar for their crab cakes. B.J.’s Soul Food Restaurant features delicious classics and a mac and cheese that’s out of this world. A visit to Beacon should also include a stop at the Beacon Bread Company for fresh baked bread and Two Way Brewing Company, Beacon’s own craft brewing spot.
